Gorillas (as in militants not gigantic primates) have taken over the famed Virunga National Park. (which has been mentioned on this blog before). This is not good for the 200+ remaining wild Gorillas. The Gorilla Protection blog run by park rangers is a good source for some info.

Judy sent in some playful Western Lowland Gorillas seen at the Bronx Zoo from early September. This is a real winner. Some great close ups, and lots of actions thanks to some editing.

Over 100,000 Gorillas found in Congo according to CNN. The highest density ever found. That’s practically a city’s worth of gorillas previously undiscovered by humans. A “Planet of the Apes” if you will. Also make sure to check out the iReport page with some random gorilla pictures.
