Comedic Portrayals Of Chimps Undermine A Species?

“Chimpanzee expert” (which is below Monkeyologist) at the Lincoln Park Zoo, Steve Ross says doesn’t like the Chimp videos. According to this article:

…comedic portrayals of chimps undermine conservationist efforts to save the endangered species.

Any truth to this? No, not really. It’s because of these portrayals that we love them so much. Could you imagine a world without chimps? Our economy would collapse. YouTube would shut down (as would this site), Google would die and the US economy would go into turmoil. Many companies would be in trouble as they wouldn’t be able to advertise their crappy products to people with a spokesperson consumers can relate to (chimps).

Chimps are vital to our economy. They need to be saved. Is keeping chimps in the public eye hurting their chances of survival? No. Should they perhaps be more vocal about the threats they face? Absolutely. How do we do that? Comedic portals of chimps raising public awareness for the plight of chimps around the world. That will get people talking. Everyone loves the chimp ads. Make it about the chimps this time.
